Why does my skincare or makeup pill?

Pilling can come from the way products layer, the amount applied, or how their formulas interact. Changing the amount, order, or number of layers is usually more useful than adding exfoliation just because products roll up.

It does not automatically mean dead skin needs scrubbing off. Try fewer layers, smaller amounts where appropriate, and less rubbing. Do not reduce sunscreen below its directed amount to solve pilling; adjust the layers underneath or the formula instead.
